CCM Tacks XR70 Intermediate Hockey Skates
Intro & New Features
CCM introduces the Tacks XR70 hockey skates as part of their 2026 Tacks skate line. This skate features a stiff boot, with ADPT Memory Foam to provide the player with comfort while they wear this skate. The 7mm felt tongue with injected lacebite technology minimizes the effects of lacebite, while providing comfort, all at a lower price point.
Skate Fit Profile
Despite being offered at a lower price point, these skates are still designed to be a stiffer boot, providing support to strong skaters. Stiff skates may be tough to break in and use at first, but they are best for skaters with big strides and won’t wear down as easily, even if you are skating most of the week. This skate is completely thermoformable, meaning it is moldable and responsive to heat. Baking and fitting the skates while heated will allow them to fully adapt to your foot shape. These skates come in two different skate widths:
- Regular: Medium Forefoot, Medium Heel, Medium Volume
- Wide: Wide Forefoot, Wider Heel, Wide High Volume
These two profiles allow the player to choose a skate that best aligns with their foot profile in a particular skate family, removing limitations on choice based on fit instead of performance benefit.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
The XR70 skate is made of a synthetic comfort boot, which has an ergonomic fit, in a lightweight yet durable boot. Players get more direct energy transfer and a closer fit for faster strides. Built with CCM’s One-Piece Boot technology, this design amplifies power transfers and explosiveness in every stride.
Liner & Internal Padding
CCM continues to use the TotalDri Pro liner on the inside of these skates. This high-performance, moisture wicking material is designed to keep the feet dry and skates light, while the antimicrobial treatments fights odor and bacteria. For comfort, these skates have ADPT Memory Foam, this multi-layered configuration has denser ADPT Memory Foam ankle pads that creates a comfortable and snug skate interior.
Tongue
When CCM was creating the tongue for these skates, they thought of comfort. That’s why these skates feature a 7mm felt tongue with injected lacebite technology. The dual-layer construction with injected lacebite protection keeps players feet protected on the ice while minimizing the effect of lacebite.
Insoles
The CCM Ortholite footbed design is an ultra-lightweight, molded fit created for enhanced comfort.
Holder & Steel
The Tacks XR70 skates come with the CCM XS1 stainless steel runner. To hold the blades in place, these skates use the Speedblade XS holder, which is a quick-release holder with a metal pin blade lock system.
